The Day After Feast

On day six of the diet, I scoured food blogs to find recipes for Chinese dishes accompanied by mouth-watering pictures. I found plenty on Appetite for China. In celebration of my steadfast resolve, I cooked up a dinner feast the day after the diet was over.

To start things off, I made some tea eggs. These were left to boil for almost 3 hours!

Cantonese Char Sui Pork. It didn’t turn out as savory as I wanted, but still tasted delicious.

Soy Braised Chicken. The chicken was so tender and flavor was yum.

And for dessert, some banana coconut cupcakes. I don’t normally like coconut flakes, but these cupcakes were good.

By the end of the day, my tummy and I reconciled. It forgave me for the past seven days.

The GM Diet – Day 6 & 7

Unlimited portions of lean meat and vegetables. I was hungry at work mainly because I had only one salad for lunch and no breakfast. How do you make a breakfast out of raw vegetables?? I don’t normally eat vegetables anyway, but I think that all of the water I was drinking was making me even more hungry. Dinner was good though. Had loads of meat and vegetables! I was my favorite day out of the entire week, just as I had predicted!

Brown rice is hard to chew, but I did manage to make a vegetable fried rice with it which turned out quite tasty.  This was about the only thing I had all day.   I made 2.5 meals worth and that lasted me the whole day.  It didn’t help that I went to a birthday bbq party in the evening where there were food and drinks.  It was so tempting to break the diet, especially since it was the last day.   Not very many hunger pangs, only temptations.

At the end of it all, I’ve lost a total of 3.3 lbs, very much shy of the 10-17lbs mark. I must have done something wrong. Still though, I’m quite proud of myself for making through all the way to the end. I was almost convinced that I would quit somewhere in the middle, but my resolve held fast and I was able to finish it. I feel leaner now and I didn’t wake up and gorge on all the foods I’ve missed out on during the past week. Would I recommend this diet? Yes, purely because it is very doable. If I can do it, then certainly anybody can.

The GM Challenge – Day 5

I’m getting really tired of the limitations on food. Today I’m only allowed to eat two 10oz. pieces of beef and six tomatoes. I thought today would be much easier than it’s turned out to be because I could finally eat some meat, but it’s actually harder than yesterday. I already have a long list in my head about what foods I want to eat when this is all done: sushi, pizza, Vietnamese BBQ, Korean BBQ and spam musubi just to name a few. Oh and white rice! I’m allowed to eat brown rice on day seven, but really, who wants to eat that?? Fragrant white rice sounds so mouth watering right now. I just got about a dozen recipes for Chinese dishes from Appetite for China. Can’t wait till Sunday when I can try some of them out.

The GM Challenge – Day 4

From the outset I thought that this would be the hardest day. Nothing but bananas and milk, oh and soup! God bless the soup. The day started off on a high note when I stepped on the scale and I was 1.1 lbs lighter, haha. I’m beginning to think I’m doing something wrong since diet is supposedly going to cull off 10-17lbs and I’m more than half way through!

I’ve had my regimented amount of milk today and so far counting five bananas…and that is where the counting has stopped. I think my exuberance for gorging is having a fierce battle with General Motors, the FDA and the USDA. They didn’t think about the appetite of a Lim when concocting this plan. We seem to have bottomless pits for stomachs and are hell bent on trying to fill it to the bursting point. Luckily, I’ve been blessed with a pretty fast metabolism so the food gets burned off quickly. I’m very excited about tomorrow because I get to eat STEAK!!

The GM Challenge – Day 3

I wasn’t hungry at all, but I also hadn’t lost any weight. Maybe I’m eating too many vegetables.
